FIRST!
Nice read big dog. It will be interesting to see how camp plays out.
Hyman and Sosh may very well start with the Marlies. I don't think Brown and Nylander will.
Regarding Brown, I know he's still a "rookie", but he's quite a bit older than your typical rookie is, and has a ton of AHL experience. I think he will be a really good NHL player, if he can avoid getting hurt |

Yeah, and there is some small part of me that can't help but root for a late round pick to become an above average NHLer. Tired of talking about other teams finding Mark Stones and Shane Ghostbears. Time for the Leafs to have a couple of their own gems |

And I think it'll be good to have Brown (who has had to grind at every level to get where he is) in the mix with the Marners and Nylanders and Matthewses (who are assumed to be NHL players one day). Maybe remind them not to take anything for granted. |

Also rychel probably gets a shot too. |

Meh..
I dont think we "deserve" a diamond in the rough, but it would be nice. Leafs have drafted very well the past couple years and i wouldnt be surprised if a couple 2nd rounders or later become good NHLers.. Bracco, Dermott, Neilsen, Johnson could all be sought after players one day.. |

Big hopes for Connor Brown! I really hope he starts the year with the team despite the three headed waste of space leadership monster known as Laich/Greenwood/Michalek |

Which is how good teams stay good.
You either have guys pushed out by young up-and-comers, and get some picks/prospects in return for them or the up-and-comers get moved for picks/prospect. Then those picks/prospects become the next up-and-comers, etc. It's that cycle that allows teams to be competitive for years on end

Yep, and that set the Leafs back a decade, or more.
It sucks, but they are slowly pulling themselves out of the muck and starting to turn it around |

I dunno, it actually seems pretty quick. Considering how fast the teardown and drafting of legit high end talent happened...
Obviously it's gonna be a little while before we start making it to conference finals but considering the mess the team was in, 7 years isn't such a long time. |

Hi Lucas, it's me, your #1 fan.
I'm very skeptical about your Brown prediction, I like the player and all but that would be a very good first season for him... and if he somehow does play to these kind of numbers, it will be because some other kid won't workout at all.
But that's just my opinion. |

I honestly don't consider anything "rebuilding" prior to Rielly being drafted.
So 4 years, 2 with Shanahan.
It's impressive actually |

The hard work is done now at least.
We have our 1C & 2C, 1D, and 1G.. thats the foundation with AM being the cornerstone. We have excellent depth now too.. Just gotta give this team some time to mature. |

You could be right. It depends, as always, who he plays with and whether he stays healthy
I foresee him gettin put on the wing on a "kid" line with Matthews and Nylander. Thus, I think he will get a bunch of secondary assists off those two guys and that will jack his point total higher than it otherwise might have been.
It's a dark horse prediction, no doubt, but that's the fun of it |

The start to the rebuild in my opinion was the moment when Carlyle got fired. Drafting Rielly was a result of a bad season that management had hoped would have been a lot better.
The 7 years i'm talking about takes some future years into account. I'm assuming that in 5 years, the Leafs are gonna look really good. |
